Charlie Crist on Pro Life/Family
Governor Crist believes strongly in the sanctity of life. While Attorney General, Charlie Crist worked with Governor Bush to successfully defend Florida’s Parental Notification law.
Following his election as Governor, Charlie Crist created the Office of Adoption and Child Protection within the Governor’s office and named a pro-life conservative as Florida’s first Chief Child Advocate. In just three short years, approximately 10,000 foster children have been placed into loving, permanent homes throughout Florida. Governor Crist’s commitment to uniting Florida’s families helped launch the Explore Adoption campaign.
Continuing on the success in Florida, Charlie Crist will seek methods on the federal level to promote adoption on the national level.
In 2009, Governor Crist vetoed a reduction in funding to Crisis Pregnancy Centers across Florida. Initiated in 2005, Crisis Pregnancy centers provide counseling and information to pregnant women to promote and encourage childbirth.
The Florida Family Policy Council stated that the reduction “would have prevented women from receiving critical education in prenatal care, childbirth, parenting and adoption resources.”
Charlie Crist believes marriage is between one man and one woman. As Attorney General, Charlie Crist defended nine cases attacking traditional marriage.
