BREAKING: Ron DeSantis Interrupted Relief Efforts to Tour Hurricane Damage

Critical Supplies and Resources Delayed in Reaching Floridians in Need For DeSantis Photo Op

ST. PETERSBURG — Charlie Crist, candidate for governor of Florida, released a statement following reports that Governor Ron DeSantis delayed relief efforts in hard-hit Arcadia, Florida to stage a photo opportunity.

ABC Action News reported that local community members who had been ferrying critical supplies like water, food, and medicine to struggling Floridians were stopped on Sunday to allow for the governor to visit the site – a visit that served as a media event and offered no new aid to folks in need.

In a statement, Charlie Crist said:

“You’ve got to be aware how your actions as governor affect people in a crisis like this. Whether it’s not staying on top of the storm track and storm surge risk to communities in SW Florida, not ensuring evacuation alerts went out in a timely manner, or failing to communicate to the public for 18 hours in the run up to one of the largest storms in our nation’s history – Gov. DeSantis would rather play politics than do the job he was elected to do.”
